Beane has never been entirely “normal.” His quiet nature and social anxiety have led him to shrink from the world, barely impacting it, all but invisible to everyone but his sister and her husband. But when a mysterious new woman enters the scene, her presence causes him to reevaluate everything he’s ever known about himself, the world, and his place in it, and his metamorphosis transforms everyone in his life along with him.

Roles Available:
BEANE (M, 20s-30s): quiet, withdrawn, barely visible, until the arrival of Molly wakes him up, and he sees the world as if for the first time.

JOAN (F, late 20s to early 40s): the opposite of her brother in many ways. Forceful, opinionated, passionate and hard to ignore. Spars with her husband while trying to protect her brother.

MOLLY (F, 20s-30s): used to being a figure of menace, a cat burglar out of nightmares. Stunned by Beane's spartan existence, and confused as to why she finds herself drawn to him

Please prepare modern contrasting monologues with a combined length of no more than five (5) minutes in length.

Those actors seen at call backs will be provided sides for cold reading.

Send resume and headshot bookings@scorpio.ca with the subject line “LOVE SONG AUDITIONS”, and indicate in the body of the email which character you want to audition for and your preference for a time.

Synopsis

Evie Malone- gamer girl, college senior and confirmed virgin- has it all figured out. Not only does she command a top-ranked guild in Warcraft with her online boyfriend, she also makes a little cash on the side writing love letters for people who've screwed up their relationships.
Love is like Warcraft, after all. It's all about strategies, game plans, and not taking stupid risks.

Well, that's what she thinks... until she actually falls for a guy. In Real Life. And no amount of gaming expertise will help her out when she finds herself with a non-virtual, totally real, and incredibly cute boyfriend, who wants more from her than she's willing to give.

Character Breakdown

EVIE: early to mid twenties. Evie is smart and creative. She is capable of great charm and is a natural born leader, as long as she doesn't have to talk to an actual person. With people she is shy and awkward, but still possesses a quirky magnetism.

KITTY: early to mid twenties. Kitty is a bit of a hedonist, with a love for parties and men. On the surface she might seem selfish, but deep down she possesses all the qualities of a true friend.

RAUL: early to late twenties. Raul is handsome in a classic sense.
Underneath his fair looks is kind, sensitive, and loving soul.

RYAN: early to late twenties. Ryan is the quintessential loner gamer, he is Evie's online boyfriend and displays a bit of a possessive streak.

MALE ENSEMBLE: early to late twenties. Good character actor responsible for multiple roles.

FEMALE ENSEMBLE: early to late twenties. Good character actor responsible for multiple roles.

Audition Requirements

Auditions will be held in pre-scheduled 10 minute time slots. Please contact Kayte Davies, at kayteparnell@yahoo.ca with your headshot & resume, and to schedule a time. Please prepare a 1-2 minute comedic monologue.

Dan's V.O. Tip

Let it Land!

When we describe something to another person, we usually watch to see if they are "Getting It"as we move forward in the conversation. (It doesn't always work well if you have teenagers).
It doesn't matter if you are giving a presentation, public speaking or voicing a commercial. Every time you make a point; 'Point'. Yes, point your finger at the person (real or imagined) with whom you are speaking, each time you make a point.
This allows your information to "LAND". The brief pause and the inflection that will occur will help your audience keep up with what you are saying. it will also help YOU avoid run-on sentences and even your pacing.
Try it :) ~xod
