AUDITION NOTICE: Masquerade Productions

Auditions for Romeo and Juliet a musical- All Ages, All Backgrounds welcome!

Masquerade Productions is looking for new members to participate in putting on a modern language musical adaptation of William Shakespeare's greatest tragedy.

Auditions will take place:

*The Community Room- Midtown Market Co-op* *July 23* *and 24th- From 5:30 to 9*pm

The show will be presented the first 2 weekends of November. Rehearsal days are yet to be determined (you will be asked at the audition about your availability).

Please note: rehearsals will mainly take place in an at home ballet studio/community rooms in the inner city area with a schedule provided.

Roles Available:

Romeo: *A young man of Verona, always in and out of "love", but finding himself wanting more*. *Tragic hero, strong acting and vocal skills required (Ages 18-35, Tenor)*

Juliet: *A strong willed young woman who falls in love with the son of her father's enemy. (Please note: this is not the classic interpretation of Juliet as a naive young girl) (Ages 18-30, Mezzo-soprano, belting may be required)*

Mercutio: *Romeo's best friend, Tybalt's greatest rival. Carefree, fun, big personality but able to live up to a tragic end*. (*Ages 16-35, Tenor)*

Tybalt: *Juliet's cousin, the troubleseeker of the Capulet clan, serious character with a suffering heart. (Ages 19-40, Baritone)* 

Friar Lawrence: *The Narrator and peacemaker of the story, a man of great faith and character (Ages 20-60, Baritone/Bass)* 

The Nanny: *Juliet's caregiver and greatest ally from the time of her birth (Ages 23-60, Alto/Mezzo, Belt)*

Benvolio: *Romeo's other friend, key player in the lovers' tragic end.* (*Ages 16-30, Baritone/Tenor)*

Escalus: *The Prince of Verona, just and commanding, hating to see his city divided. (Ages 23-40, Baritone/Tenor)* 

Mrs. Capulet: *Juliet's youthful and seductive mother, demontrates both extremes of passionate love and hate. *(*Ages 20-50 Alto/Mezzo-Belt)* 

Mrs. Montague: *Romeo's mother, the matriarch of the Montague clan. Very outspoken and hot blooded. (Ages 20-50 Alto/Mezzo-Belt)* 

Mr. Capulet- *Juliet's father. Easily manipulated into hate and arranging his daughter's marriage (Ages 18-65, Tenor)*

Paris- *Juliet's conceited suitor, who is very passionate about his "property". (Ages 17-35, Tenor*, *some high parts)*

Rosaline- *Romeo's former flame, unhappy about his new found love. (Ages 15-27, Mezzo- Minor singing part)*

Steward- *The Capulet family's head servant. (Ages 16-70, Baritone- Minor singing part)*

Maid- *The Capulet's maidservant (Ages 15-60, Mezzo- Minor singing part)* , 

(All above characters have solo songs/lines but with the exception of Romeo, Juliet, Friar Lawrence and the Nanny, all will likely be required to participate in most ensemble numbers)

Mrs. Capulet's Manservant- *Part of the ensemble, and appears to have an affair with Mrs. Capulet* (*Male, 18-40)*

Peter- *The Nanny's servant, bullied by the Montagues + ensemble* (*Male, *

14-30)

 
Ensemble- *ages 8-80, any range*

Summer 2012 Performance Intensive

CASTING CALL: Sci-Fi Short

Casting call: 

A man from mid twenties to late thirties for the role of the consort for the sci fi short film, THE CONSORT  that is funded by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.

THE CONSORT is an American and Canadian award winning screenplay.

Casting will take place Thursday, July 12, and Sunday July 15th.  The film will be shot all on green screen Sunday July 29th with rehearsals during the week before based on availability.

BLOOD SISTERS
An Independent Short low-budget Film – Calgary, AB
Shoot Dates: Early October – Mid/Late November (exact dates TBD)

Male Lead Actor Casting call (Low / No pay)

Synopsis: Stories are always told about the breech of trust between those we love. BLOOD SISTERS follows the life of a girl lost in her past and her struggle to find her way home.

Dr. Alex: Male. Caucasian. Age 35 – 45 Debonair doctor who still does house calls, has close (perhaps too close) connections to his patients.

Auditions: July 22nd 2012, 10am – 4pm (Please note all auditions will be given a specific time)
