Carbon Based Theatre is holding auditions for its
inaugural play, The Contentment Cafe, a new work by Peter Dorrius and directed
by Kris McBride.
The Contentment Cafe will run February 13 to 23 at the Motel Theatre, and will be produced as a co-op production.
Auditions will be held at the Morpheus rehearsal space,
3512 5 Avenue NW, on Tuesday, November 27 and Thursday, November 29, between 7
and 10. Call backs will be on Sunday, December 2, from 2-4.
To request an audition, please email Kris at thecontentmentcafe@gmail.com.
Please come with a monologue and be prepared to read from
the script. Bring a head shot and resume.
Roles to be cast:
Katherine: mid to late twenties, a waitress looking to
open her own business, always seeking the approval of others
Sarah: early twenties, a server at The Contentment Cafe,
happy in herself
Story:
Katherine has been a server for ten years and wants to
open a restaurant of her own, but lacks the capital. When she contacts Jeremy,
an old boss, hoping he'll invest in her start-up, she gets what she wants --
and more.
Jeremy is hoping to take control of her business and date
her as well. The Contentment Cafe explores what we really want, what happens
when we get it, and just what it takes to be content.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsal will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings
and Sunday afternoons in Inglewood.
