Audition Notice: SAIT Productions (Union & Non-Union Agreement)

CASTING CALL for Student Project “Sector 7” by Ryan Morrison

Hi everyone, I'm a second year TV student at SAIT who is filming a 5 minute drama this fall, and  I'm looking for a few actors/actresses for the production. Its called "Sector 7" and will be more  of a dystopian fiction, mixed with a bit of the Twilight Zone. Most forms of human  interaction/personal relationships have been removed from society by authoritarian leadership,  making society very robotic and mundane. Because this is a student film, it will be unpaid and  non-union. This will be filmed all within Calgary, in early to mid October.

Our story follows our 2 protagonists: citizens of this cruel, cold world, who accidentally have a  forbidden interaction, which sparks their human instincts and makes them rethink their  existence. Unfortunately for them, the morality police hear about this interaction and go  investigate for themselves. This gives us four roles which need to be filled.

Role 1: Anton is a male in his 30's or 40's, who was born before the authoritarian leadership  came into power. While most of his childhood memories are repressed, he has been able to  keep some personal items to remind himself of who he was, and what the world was like  before. He is kept hidden from the rest of society, essentially putting him on house arrest, as he  is a threat to the established status quo. His sole role in society is to providing DNA to the state,  so they can genetically engineer more children for the population. Since he has been away from  society for so long, he looks like a wild man, with old tattered clothes.

Role 2: D14-1 is a female in her 20's or 30's, who was born after the authoritarian leadership  came into power. She wears all black clothes and a black mask to hide her identity while on the  job. She has an extremely cold demeanor at first, as she was born, raised and trained in  government facilities to become a DNA Collector. However once she accidentally has a  forbidden encounter with Anton, she starts to feel things she had never felt before, which  makes her call her superiors and re-think her existence.

Roles 3 & 4: Minister Y-4 and X-8 are the morality police, employed by the Ministry of  Temperance. They wear suits and sunglasses, and are extremely cold and robotic. Their job is to  act as the morality police of Sector 7, and have no love for anything but the letter of the law.  They are informed about the interaction between Anton and D14-1, are sent to resolve the  situation, and take D14-1 to a re-education camp. While I have written these characters as a  male and female pair, I'm okay with mixing it up and having two males, two females, or one of  each.

If anyone is interested and wants to see the script, you can reach me by email at  ryan.morrison@edu.sait.ca

Thank you so much, I hope to work with you soon!
