About the Show
Run Dates: October 5th - 20th, 2012, Victor Mitchell
Theatre - Pumphouse Theatres
What a glorious feeling, I'm happy again!
You remember the story. You love the characters. You know the song. FRC is proud
to present the stage adaptation of one of the most celebrated and beloved films
of all time, Singin' in the
Rain!
Set in 1920's Hollywood, this zany, light-hearted romantic
comedy centres around the early days of sound film, when many a movie studio
found itself scrambling to salvage the career of its chipmunk-voiced silent
picture star. Much loved silent film actor Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly in the
film) has to find a way to stay on top, so with the help of his friend Cosmo
and love interest Kathy Seldon, Don turns his first talking picture into a
musical.
With songs like "Make Em Laugh", "Good Morning" and, of course, "Singin' in the Rain", you'll be tapping your toes all night long. Bring the kids,
bring your friends, but don't forget your umbrella you never know when it
might start raining!
Audition Location
Auditions are held at the FRC Studio, located at 2633
Hochwald Ave SW, Calgary AB (see www.frontrowcentre.ca/frcstudio
for directions).
Audition Requirements
Auditioners are asked to prepare a classic musical
theatre song in the style of the show that showcases their vocal abilities.
Preferably, the audition piece will also showcase the auditioner's dance
ability. A cappella song auditions will not be considered. Please bring the
sheet music (an accompanist will be provided) or backing track for your song.
Auditioners are asked to come in comfortable attire to move in. Auditioners may
also be requested to learn and perform a short dance routine in the time slot
allotted.
Members of Equity and ACTRA please note that as FRC
produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we will not pay any
professional association fees, such as the fees stipulated by Equity's
Amateur Guest Artist policy, under any circumstances whatsoever.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
from 7-10 PM and Sunday afternoons from 1-5 PM starting Sunday July 8. All
rehearsals will be held at the new FRC rehearsal space in the Beddington
Heights Community Centre, 375 Bermuda Drive NW.
