Gwynn Simmons is a folk music star on the rise, about to
embark on her first national tour. But when the house that she and her
girlfriend have booked for a long weekend get-away is double booked by infamous
right-wing media hatchet man Frank Flanagan and his estranged wife, the weekend
descends into rivalries of politics, ideologies, lifestyles, and lovers.
Passions flare, alliances are forged and broken, and no one leaves unchanged.
GWYNN SIMMONS (25) - A singer/songwriter on the verge
Talented and beautiful. She is both excited and terrified
of her impending fame and fortune and unsure of what her place in her own new
life will be.
MAXIE FLEISCHER
(27) - Gwynn's activist lover
Her passion for politics and activism are matched only by
her love of partying. She can barely wait to begin the adventures that her girlfriend’s
fame and fortune will bring.
FRANK FLANAGAN
(60) - A conservative TV star
Former journalist turned right wing media hatchet-man.
His Fox News program “The Flanagan Files” have made him as loved by the right
as he is hated by the left. Wealthy, arrogant obstinate. He’s everything you’d
expect from his media persona… or is he?
FAY BOROSHENKO
(55) - Frank's Ex-wife and magazine writerý
A renowned and respected journalist for Rolling Stone
magazine. A life on the road has left her eager to settle down and enjoy her
coming retirement. She won’t spend the rest of her life with Frank, but if she
plays her cards right, she may just get their beautiful, and hotly contended,
summer home.
DALE LAWLESS (45)
A liberal political advisor
Chief advisor to the failed Clinton campaign, he has
taken a step back from the political life to lick his wounds and enjoy his time
with his new flame, Fay. His relaxing weekend away doesn’t turn out quite the
way he expects when he finds himself face to face with Fay’s ex husband and
learns that he may not be as welcome in their old home as he was led to
believe.
TERRY KLEIN (35)
Frank's producer and right hand man
> The best executive assistant that money can buy, he
manages Frank’s
> schedule, media and his personality.
Please prepare modern contrasting monologues with a
combined length of no more than five (5) minutes in length.
