Audition Notice: Gas & Light Productions

Gas & Light Productions invite actors to audition for our Spring 2017 production of Ken Ludwig's Midsummer/Jersey. This is a modern  version of Shakespeare's much loved comedy,  "Midsummer Night's Dream", set on a boardwalk in New Jersey. The script is about 50/50 Shakespeare and Ludwig but maintains the original story lines.
The large cast includes the following with some doubling - the age ranges are how we envisage the characters and are not absolutes.
 
Principal Platt:   She is the School Principal. Doubles as Terri Thumbs, one of the workers at the Hairdressing Salon.  35+ 
Governor Chris Athens:  The Governor of New Jersey.  40s
Hippolyta:   The fiancé of Governor Athens.  Doubles as Mote, one of the fairies.  30s
Phyllis Trait: The Governor 's Secretary. Doubles as Titania, the Queen of the fairies. 30s
Justine Dicarlo:  The Governor 's  Chief of Staff and Mia's mother. Doubles as Cobweb, one of the fairies.  40s
Rufus Dicarlo: Mia's father.  40+
Mia Dicarlo: Rebellious teenager. In love with Lyle. 18-25
Lyle Fagioli: Cool dude, in love with Mia. 18-25
Denis: like Lyle, also in love with Mia. 18-25
Helene: Mia's BF. In love with Denis. 18-25
Patti Quince: Owner of Hair and Gone, a hairdressing and beauty salon.  30+
Nikki Bottom:  Works at Hair and Gone.  30+
Franci Flute:  Works at Hair and Gone.  20+
Robert(a) Sudds:  Works at Hair and Gone.  Could be Male or Female.  30+
Janet Snug:  Works at Hair and Gone.  20+
Oberon:  King of the Fairies. A Rock Star. 30+
Puck (male or female):  Robin Goodfellow, Oberon's fixer.  Needs lots of energy.  Any age from 15 up
Moonbeam/Jackie:  Fairy/Student.  Teenage or young adult
Sunflower/Lili:  Fairy/Student.  Teenage or young adult
Sunshine/Chelsea: Fairy/Student.  Teenage or young adult
Turtle/Bakari: Fairy/Student.  Teenage or young adult
Peaseblossom/Kim: Fairy/Student.  Teenage or young adult
Mustardseed/Olivia: Fairy/Student.  Teenage or young adult
 
Auditions will take place at the Workshop Theatre Rehearsal space at Bay 10, 415-60th Ave S.E.  on Monday November 28 and Wednesday November 30 at 7:00 pm. Should Call-backs be necessary  they will be on Sunday December 4 at 11:00 am. These will be cold read auditions so expect to be there for a couple of hours or so.
The show will run from April 13 to April 22 at the Joyce Doolittle Theatre at the Pumphouse, rehearsals will start at the beginning of February.
