 About Torchlight Theatre:
In times long past, a torch was used to light the stage, bringing illumination to a production. Without it, people were limited to what they could see and when they could see it.  In the 1500's, its magnification and reflection could be used as a spot light, bringing special attention to the action on stage.  Theatre itself is a kind of torch, lighting the way through story, illuminating the playwright's ideas for the world to see.  With that in mind, Torchlight Theatre was born.  Our goal is to cast light on the world through story and performance; enlightening and entertaining our audiences.  Torchlight Theatre is a not-for-profit emerging theatre company, founded on grace, with the desire to give mentorship opportunities to our artists and bring quality entertainment to Airdrie, Calgary and outlying communities.  We aim to give our audience an experience that they will delight in and remember.

About the Director: Chelsey is the General Manager of Alberta Dance Theatre and the Artistic Director Square Cat Entertainment. She has worked on multiple shows directing and producing throughout the Calgary community. Chelsey is an award winning animation director (Telus Storyhive). She was nominated for Director of the Year from the Calgary Critter awards for her work on The Basement Boys (2014). Sage Theatre’s Bea (ast.d). Chelsey is a graduate from the University of Windsor’s Drama department. Chelsey performs regularly within the Middle Eastern communities of Calgary and has traveled through Canada and Australia teaching physical theatre and acting techniques for Middle Eastern dance.

About the Show:
Welcome to Truvy's beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle, the outspoken, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town's rich curmudgeon, Ouiser; an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader, M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby, is about to marry a "good ole boy."

ABOUT THE SHOW:This cult favourite musical (penned by the beloved mouse-eared team of Ashman and Menken) has fuelled the imaginations of Broadway and Hollywood audiences for more than thirty years.

Timid and tragic Seymour Krelborn can't catch a break. Life is tough in Skid Row, especially for a poor, orphaned florist who is hopelessly in love with his unattainable co-worker, the lovely but naïve Audrey. That is until a mysterious plant appears, changing his fortunes forever. Set to a score of Rock & Roll, Motown, and Doo-Wop, this black comedy is deliciously disturbing, thrillingly theatrical, and horrifically hilarious... you won't want to miss it.it.
