The Liffey Players Drama Society will be hosting auditions for
their spring production of "The Weir" by Conor McPherson on January 17 & 18 with callbacks on January 19th. The auditions will take
place at the Irish Cultural Centre 6452 35 Avenue NW.
The show will be
directed by Bill Torrie.
The Weir is a play
about storytelling. One evening at the local pub in a small town on the
northwest coast of Ireland the locals attempt to impress a newcomer until she
turns the tables on them.
Since storytelling
is the name of the game auditions will consist of telling a story not
presenting a monologue. Do you have a favourite (2-3 minute max) story that can
be presented? You can have your script in hand if needed as long as you
make the words come alive and build
the suspense!
An Irish dialect is
not needed at this time.
Rehersals will be
Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons at the Irish Cultural
Centre. Performances will be April 28-30, May 3-6 (Move in April 23).
This play will also
be presented at the Acting Irish International Theatre Festival so you must be
able to travel to the USA from May 8 to 14.
