CASTING NOTICE: Harry Potter And The Cursed Child (Theatre)
Dayton/Walters Casting in Toronto are reaching out across Canada to cast for a new project we are working on - the Toronto production of the Tony Award Winning Best Play, Harry Potter And The Cursed Child (to be produced by Mirvish Productions and mounted at The Ed Mirvish Theatre in downtown Toronto in 2020).
This play two-part stage play written by Jack Thorne based on an original story by Thorne, J.K. Rowling and John Tiffany begins nineteen years after the events of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows’ and follows Harry and his younger son, Albus who is about to attend Hogwarts. As such, our casting needs require young actors who can pass as students at Hogwarts. Traditionally, in productions around the world, these roles have been cast with recent grads from acting schools/programs, and in some cases, with gifted actors who have finished high school before they begin a post secondary program.
We are particularly seeking actors for the following roles:
Albus Potter: Male, 18+ to play 14/15. Must be 5 feet 7 inches or shorter. Son of Harry and Ginny. Student at Hogwarts.
Scorpius Malfoy: Male, 18+ to play 14/15. Must be 5 feet 7 inches or shorter. Son of Draco. Student at Hogwarts.
Rose Granger-Weasley / And Others: African Canadian Female, 18+ to play 14/15. Must be 5 feet 7 inches or shorter.
Daughter of Ron and Hermione. Student at Hogwarts.
Rehearsals will not commence until July 2020, so we are in a unique position of considering students who have recently graduated as well as students who are about to start their final year of study, but who will have graduated by the time our show goes into rehearsal in July 2020 - what a great show to book just weeks out of theatre school!
While actors will be contracted under the jurisdiction of Canadian Actors’ Equity, we are still very interested in meeting young actors regardless of their union status.
Our casting process has already begun but we hope to reach as many potential candidates over the next month as we can.
