Casting Call: Theatre

 FLC Acting Club Announces Auditions for Upcoming June Production

 
FLC Acting Club is holding auditions on March 30 from 1:00 – 4:30 pm for A Friend of a Friend. Auditions will be held in the Senior’s Lounge, Trico Centre, 11150 Bonaventure Drive SE. Please email: actingclub@flcseniors.ca with the subject heading: Audition for Friend of a Friend stating your preference for a role and time. See list and description of roles below. The audition will comprise of cold reads from the play. Please bring a headshot/resume if you have one and be prepared to be available for at least 2 hours.
 
The play will run in mid June, 2025. Rehearsals will be held on Sunday afternoons (1-5 pm) and M/W eves from 7:00-9 pm and possibly Friday afternoons, in the Senior’s Lounge at the Trico Centre, starting April 4, 2025. Not all actors will be required to be at all rehearsals.
 
Synopsis of A Friend of a Friend
 
Written by Tom Carver and directed by Helen Young, A Friend of a Friend is an original four-act play about relationships that go wrong. The play opens with Troy, a roughneck and Billy, a ne’er-do-well, bantering with Liz, a small town barmaid about making it big.  Twenty years later at a nightclub in Vancouver, Troy, now a successful musician has one final show before heading to Nashville with a recording contract and signing bonus. Seemingly out of the blue, Billy, Troy’s ex-wife Bev, Liz and her no-good brother, Snout, reappear in Troy’s life. Things go out of control when they start to conspire against each other for whatever they can get their hands on. Not everyone makes it out alive and in the end, the true prize is revealed.

Troy Rock: 40, Hard bitten survivor of the School of Hard Knocks. Been up, been down but always kept his nose clean. “I’m the only one looking out for me, I worked for mine, don’t expect me to work for yours”
 
Billy: 39, From Chibougamau, QC. An old acquaintance from Troy’s previous diamond drilling jobs.
 
Elizabeth/Liz: 38 -Small town girl from Babine Lake BC.
 
Leonard/Len/Snout: 42, Liz’s brother, Billy’s minion.

Casting Call: Short Film

 CASTING CALL for the production: “Should I go or should I stay?”

A humorous short film of a broken marriage.

A HAPPYmedia4U production.

We are a few cast and crew who are passionate about film-making, learning by doing and volunteering.

I am Kenneth Fung, Producer, Director, Director of Photography, Editor and Script writer. We have a

Talent who is a producer and Director. We also has a writer/Script writer, another crew as a

Cameraman/Director of Photography and a few all around casts.

We are looking a few new casts to join our team volunteers to join our team.

In this production: Should I go or should I stay?

*** It is a Non-Union, No pay and Zero budget production.

In return, we take your head shots, compile your Demo-reel and provide opportunities to learn by doing

with our Casts and Crew for collaborative improvements.

We are looking for a few enthusiastic actors who are usually free on Sunday afternoons.

Collaboration, rehearsals and scene/dialogue discussions are via Zoom 2 session of 45mins with a

15mins break in between on Sundays. Location shooting would be schedule among our cast and crew

on a few Sundays for a few hours.

We are looking for:

• Male Lead: A 50+ years old who has a trophy wife and have an affair with a young 20

something. Look the part. A witty funny and humorous guy.

• Female Lead: A 40+ year old. The trophy wife, gave up her career, raised the kids. Bored at

home. Secretly have a career as a Romance Writer. Host the parties. Look the part. A witty

funny and humorous lady.

• Female Supporting Lead: A 40+ year gay female marriage consultant who help people in their

divorce. A witty funny and humorous lady.

• Female Support: A 20 – 30 year old. Look the part. Who is having an affair with the Male

lead.

• Female Support: A young adult. Daughter of the couple. Look the part.
