Auditions for 7 – 15 Year Olds
SHOW DATES: Rehearsals begin on Tue Nov 10; Show runs Nov
24 – Dec 24/15
AUDITION DATE: Saturday, September 19, 2015
1:00pm – 4:00pm Group auditions (3 groups, 45 min each)
(groups will be determined once all submissions are received to make them even
in number and specific times will be given to everyone on Sep 17)
CALLBACKS will be from 4:00pm – 4:45pm
*we will notify people that we want to see for the
callbacks at the end of each group audition
LOCATION: will be given with specific audition times
WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR 8 YOUNG PEOPLE TO PLAY:
Martha Cratchit –oldest Cratchit child, looks early teens
Peter Cratchit –oldest Cratchit boy, looks tween to early teens Belinda
Cratchit – youngest Cratchit girl, looks 8 – 11 Tiny Tim – the sickly youngest Cratchit,
very small boy or girl, looks under 8 Boy Scrooge – looks under 11 Young
Scrooge – looks between 11 and 13 Fan – Scrooge’s sister, looks between 12 and
14 Hope – girl who travels with Christmas Present, looks under 12 *All Children
except Tiny Tim play more than one role in the show
PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ONLY TAKE ONE DAY OFF EACH WEEK AND
THAT DAY IS MONDAY. THE YOUNG COMPANY IS ALSO REQUIRED FOR ALL 8 PERFORMANCES
PER WEEK AS WE DO NOT DOUBLE CAST ROLES.
Please come prepared to move around a fair bit, so wear
loose, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. We will do some group
exercises and will ask you to sing a verse of one of the Christmas carols that
are at the end of this email. We will also work the following scene from the
play which should be memorized (‘off book’). Please memorize both roles
regardless of your gender.
Please include the following with your submission:
A recent photo (it has to look like you so we can link
names and faces) A resume outlining any performing experience (school/community
plays, choirs, etc), acting/singing/dance classes or camps, or special skills
(instruments, gymnastics, etc) Parent/Guardian contact information (phone,
email, address) Age and birthdate of the child School that the child is
attending
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday September 16, 2015.

Audition Scene – A Christmas Carol
Young Scrooge is alone. He is holding a notebook.
Fan: Ebenezer?
Young Scrooge: Fan?
Fan enters.
Fan: Dear, brother. I have come to bring you home.
Young Scrooge: Home, Fan?
Fan: Yes. Father is so much kinder than he used to be.
Young Scrooge: Father wants me home? I don’t believe it.
Fan: Yes, Ebenezer.
Young Scrooge: Truly? Father wishes me home?
Fan: Yes, that’s what I’m trying to tell you, silly
Ebenezer. Father spoke so gently to me one dear night when I was going to bed,
that I was not afraid to ask him once more if you might come home; and he said
yes, you should. And you’re to be a man and are never to come back here; we’re
to be together all Christmas long, and have the merriest time in all the world.
Young Scrooge: You confronted Father on my behalf?
Fan: Of course I did. You’re my brother and I love you.
They hug. Young Scrooge shows Fan a notebook.
Young Scrooge: Look, Fan. My school master gave it to me.
Fan: A place for your stories. What a kind gentleman.
Young Scrooge: He was inspired by you, Fan.
Fan: What do you mean?
Young Scrooge: You talked to Father. And you came all
this way to bring me home. He was heartened by your generosity. I will write
stories. But I won’t write them for him. I’ll write them for you.
They exit together.
