Auditions for Heritage
Park’s Summer Street Theatre Program
Make a little history
of your own at Heritage Park!
Heritage Park is looking for character interpreters for
their spring/summer street theatre program. Become part of the team of actors
presenting scripted and historically based vignettes through a variety of
theatrical forms in which specific, identifiable characters are portrayed in
pre-1914 Western Canada. Many of the vignettes are performed outside.
Improvised interaction between vignettes is required. This summer’s vignettes
feature the creation of the Calgary Public Library, a crime story, a wedding
and a sports day. There is also a western musical in the Opera House featuring
the creation of The Calgary Stampede.
Successful candidates
will have post-secondary drama training and some previous acting experience.
Equivalences will be considered. Requirements include proven performance skills
in acting, excellent verbal communication and public relations skills, and the
ability to imaginatively develop and physically project a character.
Familiarity with historical interpretation is considered an asset.
Rehearsals begin Monday April 23rd, 2012. Rehearsals run Monday
to Friday (9:30am to 5:00pm) until the park opens on May 19th. Actors are then
assigned two consistent weekdays off during the summer. Actors must be
available to work five (5) days per week including weekends from May 19th
through to the end of the contract which is Monday September 3rd, 2012.
Auditions will be held
on Sunday March 25th and Monday March 26th at Heritage Park (in Calgary). If
