An Evening at Fawlty Towers auditions
Workshop Theatre will be holding open auditions for the
hilarious iconic BBC sitcom stage production of Fawlty Towers by John Cleese
and Connie Booth on July 8, 9, and 10th at 7:00 at the Workshop Theatre
rehearsal space: Bay 10, 415 60th Ave
SE, Calgary
We will be performing 3 different plays from the Fawlty
Towers series :A Touch of Class, The Hotel Inspectors and Communication
Problems.
We will be using the same actors to play the four main
hotel characters, who appear in all three plays. Each play has many characters
and we may cast people in multiple roles.
Auditions July 8,9, and 10, 7:00 - 10:00 Please contact info@WORKSHOPTHEATRE.ORG to arrange
a time Please be prepared to do a cold read of the script which we will
provide.
Bring a headshot and/or resume if you have one as well.
Performances will run September 20 - 28, (Tuesdays -
Sundays) (8 performances).
Rehearsals will begin right after the auditions and will
mainly be weekday evenings from 7:00 – 10:00 PM and Sunday afternoon 1:30 -
5:00 PM.
Below is a list of characters that we will be looking
for. Don’t worry about the age range so much, as long as you can play the part.
- Basil Fawlty (30 -55) tall, sarcastic, manic
- Sybil Fawlty (30-50) Self satisfied with south London
accent
- Polly (20-35) confident
- Manuel (30-55) smallish stature with cod Spanish accent
- The Major (60+) retired, upper-class, vague, confused
- Miss Tibbs and Miss Gatsby (60+) elderly, genteel.
Other main characters are:
A Touch of Class
- Lord Melbury (50
– 60) upper class.
- Danny (25 – 45)
a detective (cockney)
The Hotel Inspectors
- Mr Hutchinson
(45 – 60) a fussy irritating know
all. Possibly Lancashire accent.
- Mr Walt (40 –
60) an unassuming man.
Communication Problems
- Mrs Richards (50 – 60) deaf, bossy, authoritative.
There are about 10 smaller speaking parts as well as 2 or
3 non speaking parts over the 3 plays.
