Every 20 years something happens to the water; it turns black, and becomes evil and semi-conscious. Anything that touches this cursed water becomes infected, and the water itself will actively seek out the infected and try to drown them in its depths, even if they’re on land. The Black follows a group of youth who catch wind of the phenomenon and attempt to explore it by travelling to an isolated island in the middle of a lake. In true horror flick fashion, they come face to face with the evil forces at work, left deliberately ambiguous, and enlist the help of a man who survived the dark water, not without scars, 20 years prior.

Casting Notes:
Please submit your heavyweight actors ones with lots of experience/credits on bigger shows and preferably reel. Must look young, not 28 to play 20 etc.

Jason – Male (18-20)Tall, very good looking and knows it. He’s athletic and charming but self absorbed. He thinks everything is a joke and this gets him killed very quickly. Sexual situations. Small Supporting

Tanya – Female (18-20) She’s popular and beautiful, used to getting what she wants and not having to worry about things. She ends up the second victim of The Back. Sexual situations. Small Supporting.

Chris –Male (16-20) Average height, good looking but a little goofy, he’s conscious of always being a second choice. He’s sensitive and tries to do the right thing. He dies trying to save Tanya. Small Supporting

John – Male (16-20) Clearly the bad boy of the group, also athletic, smarter than he lets on. He cares about his friends and tries to do the right thing. When he’s infected by The Black, he hides the evidence, hoping that he can fight the evil, but ends up killing Daria before dying himself. As he fights the evil growing inside him he flips between anger/ evil and his usual good guy persona. Supporting.

Daria – Female (16-20)A little hippy and little ditzy. She’s nervous all the time, scared of almost everything. Her inability to stay calm and stand on her own ultimately gets her killed. Supporting.

Kerry – Female (16-18)Smart and friendly with a quick wit and quick tongue she is the only one in her group to survive The Black. She grows steadily more sure of herself as things go from bad to worse.Lead.

Damian Bane – Male (50-65) Hard to pin point his exact age, he’s old fashioned and awkward, with no social graces. He appears to care about people in his own way. He is the only known survivor of The Black, and he may still be in its thrall. Cameo (1 or 2 days of shooting)

AUDITIONS FOR MOON OVER BUFFALO

A comedy by Ken Ludwig
Directed by Mike Johnson
Performances at the Pumphouse Theatre - September 22nd to 30th, 2017

What goes up must come down. It's true of all things in this world, including the roller coaster that is show biz fame and fortune. George and Charlotte Hay are at a low point in their ride, running two shows in rep and losing parts to rivals. But then – hold the curtain, folks – they hear that Frank Capra is coming to their matinee and if he likes what he sees, it could mean a movie deal and a trip back up the star-studded rails and into to the spotlight once again! It's the chance of a lifetime! Everything has to be perfect! So naturally, everything goes completely wrong. How could it not when you have a desperate and dramatic couple, several doors, the well-meaning, but clueless fiancĂ© of George and Charlotte's daughter, and a somewhat deaf stage manager who happens to also be George's mother-in-law? It's farce, pure and simple, lively and hilarious and we hope you'll join us for the ride.

But as we witness the journey that led to the discovery, study, and the shocking revelation to the scientific world, we learn that lines drawn between science and ambition are as deep and dark as the waters of Lake Minnewanka itself.
