AUDITION NOTICE: Vertigo Theatre

 General Audition Notice – Vertigo Theatre, Calgary

Craig Hall, Artistic Director, will be holding General Auditions in Calgary for Vertigo Theatre’s 2013/2014 Season on Monday, January 28 & Tuesday, January 29, 2013.

Actors are invited to submit a cover letter, headshot and resume. Auditions will only be by appointment. Actors are asked to prepare one contemporary and one classical monologue of their choice, no longer than two minutes in length each.

Audition Notice: Nose Creek Players



Nose Creek Players (Airdrie) will be performing an original, Drowning Ophelia. This one-act, bookended by scenes from Hamlet explores the types of abuse ¨C emotional, mental, and physical.

Characters:

Trucker/Priest: Male (any age)

Chuck/Claudius: Male (late 20¡äs to early 40¡äs)

Actors must prepare a Shakespearean and contemporary monologue, as well as prepare for a cold read.

SYNOPSIS: Family bonds offer us support, nurturance, belonging and a sense of identity. As we grow, we move from being cared for by our parents to caring for them. But what if they were never there for us? If we were abandoned, neglected or abused by our parents, are we obligated to support them if they fall on hard times? Riches explores themes of loss, disappointment, forgiveness and what we value in our lives.

AUDITION NOTICE: Workshop Theatre



Workshop Theatre proudly announces auditions for:

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD

Chaos descends on the world as the brains of the recently deceased become inexplicably re-animated, causing the dead to rise up and feed on human flesh. As a group of survivors hold up in a farmhouse they are challenged to work together to stay alive. Fighting not only their own animalistic nihilism, but the hordes of ravenous walking corpses outside that threaten to plunge them all into eternal night.

AUDITION NOTICE: Carbon Based Theatre



Carbon Based Theatre is holding auditions for its inaugural play, The Contentment Cafe, a new work by Peter Dorrius and directed by Kris McBride.

The Contentment Cafe will run February 13 to 23 at the Motel Theatre, and will be produced as a co-op production.

Auditions will be held at the Morpheus rehearsal space, 3512 5 Avenue NW, on Tuesday, November 27 and Thursday, November 29, between 7 and 10. Call backs will be on Sunday, December 2, from 2-4.

Katherine: mid to late twenties, a waitress looking to open her own business, always seeking the approval of others

Sarah: early twenties, a server at The Contentment Cafe, happy in herself

Story:

Katherine has been a server for ten years and wants to open a restaurant of her own, but lacks the capital. When she contacts Jeremy, an old boss, hoping he'll invest in her start-up, she gets what she wants -- and more.
Jeremy is hoping to take control of her business and date her as well. The Contentment Cafe explores what we really want, what happens when we get it, and just what it takes to be content.

Rehearsals:

Rehearsal will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons in Inglewood.

An unscrupulous editor, an inept representative from the Canadian Council for the Arts, a starry-eyed intern and a Publisher with questionable loyalty. These are the staff of Ars Poetica, Montreal's premiere English speaking poetry magazine, and they are all that stand between it and bankruptcy.  But when one of Canada's most influential lawyers gets thrown into the mix, one bad day at the office will decide the ultimate fate of the magazine and the people who run it. "Ars Poetica" is a scathingly clever dramatic comedy proving that not all art is culture.
Roles being cast:

   - *Naomi Rose*, 21, A summer intern at the poetry magazine, Ars Poetica.
   - *Hugh Rose*, 50s, Naomi's father. A lawyer.
   - *Julia Layton*, 40s, The editor of Ars Poetica
   - *Diane Langlois*, 30-40s, Program officer at the Canada Council for  the Arts.
   - *George Buckner*, 30s, the publisher of Ars Poetica

The production will be directed Dan Gibbins and assistant directed by Aaron Conrad.

Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals are planned for Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. This is subject to change depending on the availability of the cast.
