 AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Fire Exit Theatre is seeking actors for their May 2024 production of “Outside Mullingar” by John Patrick Shanley
SYNOPSIS
A poetic romance set in rural Ireland about neighbors stuck in the trenches of a land feud. Anthony and Rosemary grew up on adjacent farms and are now nearing mid-life crises. He’s an introverted farmer, she’s a woman who doesn’t mince words. When Anthony’s father threatens to disinherit him, Rosemary steps into the swirling mess of long-standing family eccentricities to take her shot at love. On the brink of catastrophe, they fight back despair and stubborn follies to unearth the magic of finding their hearts’ true home.

Though friendly with one another, he and Aoife uphold a longstanding dispute between their families that rankles.
AOIFE: Newly widowed, the aging Aoife carries the weight of years on her back. Even so, she hasn’t let time soften her sharp tongue. Not long for this world, Aoife lives with her adult daughter, Rosemary, and is concerned for her future, but wisely knows when to give her a wide berth. Though friendly with one another, she and Tony uphold a longstanding dispute between their families that rankles.
