compensation: $200 Cash + Expenses
I'm presenting in Calgary on the 8th of October at a Design Conference called CAMP — I'm looking for an actor to help me read a famous Dadaist poem called Karawame by Hugo Ball.

It's abstract. It's weird. The goal is to make the audience feel a bit awkward.I've done this once before in New York and had a great response.
The poem is Karawane by Hugo Ball. It is a Dadaist poem. It is short, but it needs a sense of irony / comedy to be done well. You will also need to construct a costume like Hugo. This should consist of wearing all grey / silver, spraypainted silver dish gloves and tall hat (made out of grey paper).

My talk is about 45 minutes long. You will come out for ~5 minutes around the 20 minute mark.

The details:
When: October 8th 3-5pm.
Where: Taylor Centre for the Performing Arts
18 Mt Royal Cir SW, Calgary, AB T3E 7N5, Canada
What: Poem Reading and Costume.
Pay: $200 Cash
Selection: Please email the reference video of acting / reading. Comedic content preferred.
Thanks!

AUDITION NOTICE - Cappuccino Theatre

AUDITION NOTICE
Cappuccino Theatre is proud to announce auditions for our Production of Hunchback Of Notre Dame. Based on the Victor Hugo Novel with songs from the Disney movie.
What makes a monster and what makes a man? This is the central theme of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a sweeping, grand-scale musical from Disney Theatrical. Based on the 1996 Disney film and Victor Hugo's 1831 novel, The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the story of Quasimodo, the hunchbacked bell-ringer of Notre Dame, and his desire to one day be a part of the outside world. When he summons the courage to attend the Feast of Fools, he meets Esmeralda, a compassionate gypsy who protects him from an angry mob. But at the same time, Quasimodo's master, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, and the new captain of the guard, Phoebus de Martin, fall in love with the beautiful girl. Adding to Quasimodo's struggle is his punishment and derision from Frollo, following years of psychological abuse, and the danger posed by the gypsies, who are willing to kill any outsiders who venture into their secret hideout. But before Paris is burned to the ground, will Quasimodo be able to save Esmeralda from Frollo's lust and anger? Will she return Quasimodo's affection? Who is the true monster of Notre Dame?

Audition Notice: Conquest Theatre

CASTING NOTICE

Conquest Theatre is a registered non-profit theatre company based in Canmore since 1983. Started by Marjorie Sutton-Bridge, a member of ACTRA and Can.Actors Equity, trained at LAMDA  and followed by a Masters Course in performance at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.  Marjorie has performed in England, Toronto and Calgary and with the Master Class at The Banff Centre. Marjorie was on the list of Accredited Directors of Ontario in the ’80’s when she lived there.

We have produced many plays, at various locations, from main stage at the Canmore Collegiate Theatre to dinner theatres and cabarets. We have our own studio for rehearsals with stage and lights and sound - and heat.
We have performed mainly classics, e.g. She Stoops to Conquer, Private Lives, Dangerous Corner,  My Fat Friend, 2 Chekhov plays, Michael Freyn plays, Alan Ayckbourn plays, etc. We performed Scrooge at Christmas for many years, since 1999 at a Church Hall in Canmore and for several years at Rafter 6 Ranch and The Canmore Opera House.

We are re-grouping after a hiatus and wish to perform a two person romantic comedy during the pre-Christmas season - “Wrong for Each Other”, which we hope to secure a spot at ArtsPlace in Canmore and also at the nice hall at the Lutheran Church and possibly on to a dinner theatre popular local restaurant, where we performed last Christmas. However, we will not be performing during the peak Christmas season.

Actual dates are not fixed as yet, except November, as we are waiting to see who comes along and what their time commitments are.

Requirements: One male and one female, ages late 20’s to early 40’s, Caucasian who can commit the time and energy.

As time is of the essence, we require people as soon as possible.  We are prepared to pay an honorarium plus travel expenses.

Following an initial reading here and discussion with the chosen cast, we expect people to rehearse their lines within a given time frame, in Calgary, and to get together there to save time and expense and to come here for direction when the lines are learned.

Dedicated actors are always welcome and we’d like to see your resume and headshot.

Please send them to marjoriebridge@gmail.com. or by mail to Conquest Theatre Society, 101 Harvie Heights Road, Canmore, Alberta T1W3E8.

NB: We have two websites, one of which is not current, the second is current but not finalized and we are currently seeking to get a third and better website made with a separate webmaster.
In the meantime, Theatre Canmore will be helping us in the production, and when we get going their website will be managing our production.

In addition, we will be requiring more actors to perform in a W. Somerset Maugham drama “The Letter” in the February/March period to be performed at the High School theatre, and we encourage actors of all ages to send in resumes. In particular we would want a Chinese male actor 40-60ish, a dynamic slender female for the lead role (played by Bette Davis in the film), 3 males 20’s - 40’s, one male older 60-70, a woman 40-50ish, and several oriental small parts. This would be a great play to put on one’s resume. Please send resumes if interested.
