Their very British butler Perkins watches stoically as each one leaves and the secretly returns for a romantic rendezvous in what they assume is an empty house.  The results are hilarious and unexpected in this prototypical bedroom farce.

Captain South - The Marine Corps officer in charge of embassy security. Totally incompetent, spends most of his time getting knocked out. Age 25-45

Synopsis:
This 10 minute short film tells the story of Arthur, a disfigured man leading a lonely life. One day,
a beautiful young woman named Roselin moves in across the hall. Arthur spies on her through
a peephole and gets caught. Much to his surprise Roselin isn’t put off by his appearance and
the two start off an unexpected friendship. The story evolves into a beautifully written tale of
love and acceptance as Arthur goes on to discover that Roselin has scars of her own, that were
always beneath the surface.

CHARACTER BIOS:

Arthur:
-Early-mid 20s, short, caucasian, medium build.
-Bio: Arthur is a quiet, lonely man who keeps to himself in his apartment. He almost never
goes out, but when he does he covers up his face to conceal his scar. He’s a tortured artist
with very little confidence. He had a work-place accident in the past. He tried to save a
friend and ended up physically burned because of it. He still struggles with being able to
accept himself as he is.

Roselin:
-Early-mid 20s, average height, average weight/slim fit, caucasian, girl next door-vibe/look.
-Bio: Roselyn is a vibrant and outgoing girl next door. She’s a loving and caring artist, but
she also has a shield up. Her father was abusive toward her when she was a child and
therefore is stand-off-ish upon first meeting people. Her father tried to burn her alive while
he was drunk. 30% of her body is scarred which is hidden by her clothing. This has caused
much emotional damage, but she has since then grown stronger because of it.
NOTE: Actors looking to audition must be non-allergic to latex, prosthetics and heavy make-up

Urban Stories Theatre was born 2 years ago a brainchild of Helen Young, Kira Collins and Melissa Dorsey. We saw a need for a venue for novice actors, playwrights and behind the scenes personnel to have a chance to hone their skills and talents and see their work presented on stage. As well as providing a vehicle for play and actor development we wanted to tackle some current cultural and societal issues in the plays that are developed.

We challenge all writers, actors and story tellers to bring out their urban tales. WeĆ¢€™ll workshop and polish new ideas as well as stage plays for an audience. Yes, there are many theatre companies in Calgary but it is not easy to get in without experience and something on a resume. So, Urban Stories would like to give everyone an opportunity to be part of a show, writing, acting, stage managing and even directing.

The company is made up of a core group of local artists who will over see all productions and workshops. All other artists will join in on a show by show basis. So come and tell us your story and let the magic begin!
