FLC Acting Club Announces Audition for June Productions

We will be holding auditions for two original one-act plays to be performed June 27-30, 2023. Here are the  synopses of the plays.

The Perfect Psychos written by Magaly Gil Directed by Andrea Cortes

Long time married couple, Norman and Marion Loomis are a perfect-looking, outgoing couple who share  numerous hobbies, such as cooking, long walks and casual murdering. They believe that killing is both a  great way to spend quality time as well as a fantastic source of relief for daily stress. However, one night,  Norman and Marion's differing styles start to create friction between the two when they zero in on their  neighbour, Marty.

Norman- Mid 60’s to early 70s

Marion – Mid 60s to early 70s

Marty – 30’s to 40’s

Auditions for Perfect Psychos will be held on April 30, 1-3:00 p.m., Senior’s Lounge, Trico Centre, 11150  Bonaventure Drive S.E.

Please come prepared to be interviewed by the directing team and read scenes from the play. Interviews  will be held in the first half hour, followed by group readings. Head shots/brief resumes are welcome but  not mandatory.

The Change written by Dianna Campbell-Smith Directed by Helen Young

The second play takes place in the oil patch. In her mid-fifties, Joan experiences a setback in her career and  tries to get at the underlying reasons for it. As she does so, she unearths some of the back room wheeling  dealings of the industry.

Joan:  A geologist, 50-60 years old, recently been promoted to a VP level. She has worked for this company  for over 15 years.  She grew up in a poor neighborhood and considers herself lucky to have been born smart.   She is diligent and has done well in this company because of that.

Richard: An engineer, 35-50 years old, who is a Vice President and has previously worked with Joan.  He has  recently been promoted again. He is also part of the old boys’ network.  He grew up wealthy, and is  somewhat entitled, although he doesn’t think so.

Melissa: A SAIT grad, 55-65 year-old.  She has kept the friendship going with Joan in the many years since  they worked together at the Geological Survey. Melissa has moved to the oil patch and has had a series of  well-paying jobs. She is outgoing and makes friends easily.

George:  A 55-65 year-old oil patch executive and person who Joan has worked with at different points over  the last 15 years. He has worked for his current company for over 20 years.  He is a good guy – basic, honest,  straightforward.  Joan and George have gotten into the habit of having coffee together once a week.

Auditions will be held on May 1, 2023, 7-9:00 p.m., Senior’s Lounge, Trico Centre, 11150 Bonaventure  Drive SE.

Please come prepared to be interviewed by the directing team and read scenes from the play. Interviews  will be held in the first half hour, followed by paired readings. Head shots/brief resumes are welcome but  not mandatory.
