Always look on the bright side of life

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. This hilarious musical sticks close to the original legend*, but features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people.

FRC is proud to present one of the country’s first non-professional productions of Monty Python’s Spamalot! With numbers like “The Song That Goes Like This” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”, this Tony Award winner for Best Musical will have you rolling in the aisles (and did we mention the bevy of beautiful show girls?)*No it doesn't.

We dine well here in Camelot, we eat ham and jam and spam a lot!

Audition Location
Auditions are held at the Beddington Heights Community Arts Centre.
375 Bermuda Dr NW, Calgary, AB

Audition Requirements
Members of Equity and ACTRA please note that as FRC produces shows on a volunteer, recreational basis, we will not pay any professional association fees, such as the fees stipulated by Equity’s Amateur Guest Artist policy, under any circumstances whatsoever.

Please prepare a comedic monologue or joke, or you may use one of the Monty Python sketches listed on our website at http://www.frontrowcentre.ca/auditions and there will be someone in the audition who you will play opposite with.

For more inspiration, check out this database of Monty Python sketches:

For your Music audition:

Prepare a comedic musical theatre piece (No more than 3 minutes long, not from Spamalot) which displays your vocal capabilities. Please bring a backing track or your own accompanist (a piano will be provided). No a-cappella.

Women who are auditioning for Lady of the Lake (aka The Diva) should be prepared to show virtuosity and complete command of their singing voice. You may choose any pop/jazz/musical theatre piece that can do this in three minutes...comedic not required but is encouraged.

There will be a group choreography audition after every 5 auditions, so please prepare for that after your audition is finished.
