SUMMER 2012 SCHEDULE Film Intensive July 5th – 8th Thurs - Fri 6:00pm – 10:00pm Sat -Sunday 10:00am – 6:00pm Instructor:Christianne Hirt An original screenplay written specifically for the actors participating in the Intensive.  Early registration is essential Description:In today's "Indie Film' culture the Rogues Film Intensive closely simulates the on-set experience through guerrilla- style shooting. This four day intensive challenges actors to work with scenes from screenplays under the same rigorous demands of a professional film set. Instructor Christianne Hirt assumes the role of director working together with a dedicated group of 12 actors who will also assume the role of crew when not working on scenes. This hands on Intensive provides a thorough understand of and respect for the film making process in the 'real world'. Actors will have a copy of their work on as a result of their efforts. Level:Intermediate – Advanced Prereq:At least one film class (admission at discretion of studio) Cost:$450 plus GST Performance Intensive: July 9th – 22nd   Mon – Fri 6:30pm – 11:00pm Sat 10:00am – 6:00pm Performances on Sat, Sun, July 21st & 22nd Instructor:Joe-Norman Shaw Description:The Rogues classic is back. A group of dedicated actors rehearse a play under professional conditions, then mount the show for three public performances in the final two days of the course. As demanding and challenging as it is rewarding, the Performance Intensive is designed for anyone seeking to gain experience both on stage and in the rehearsal process, regardless if this is their first publicly-performed play or their fiftieth. Early registration is essential in order to help facilitate the selection of a script that features roles which are suitable for the students in the course. Level:Intermediate – Advanced Prereq:Essentials of Acting or Equivalent (Scene Study recommended) Cost:$420 plus GST (discount available for Master Class students) Meisner Intensive August 14th – 18th Tue – Sat 6:00pm – 10:00pm Instructor:Stacie Harrison Description:  Whether you’re seeking an introduction to the Meisner Technique or a chance to brush up on your work, the Meisner Intensive will serve either of these purposes. Over the course of five consecutive evenings, students will participate in Meisner’s word repetition exercise and improv exercises, culling from the actor emotional authenticity by working truthfully off their partner, moment to unanticipated moment. A strong introduction for those thinking of taking the Meisner Technique class in the Fall and a great way to gain more experience for those who have already undertaken this training. Level: Beginner - Advanced Prereq: Essentials of Acting (or Equivalent) Cost: $320 plus GST Essentials of Acting July 17th  – August 3rd Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00pm – 10:00pm Instructor:Stacie Harrison Description:   Jumpstart your study of the craft! Kick it into high gear with this rare opportunity to get a head start on your actor training with this summer introduction to 'The nuts and bolts of acting.' This class provides an introduction to acting techniques, drawn from the teachings of Stanislavski, Uta Hagen and Michael Shurtleff.  Class work includes scene analysis, character development and playing for truth. Each actor is assigned a scene and a partner. Scenes will be developed with the instructor’s guidance over the course; however, rehearsal outside of class time is also required. Level: Beginner - Intermediate Prereq: None Cost: $300 plus GST Teen Sketch Comedy Workshop  July 21st & 22nd   Sat –Sun 10:00am -3:00pm (Ages 13-17) Instructor:Meaghan Sholdice-Farhall Description:  A perfect opportunity for teens to learn more about sketch comedy.  Creating and gaining valuable experience through the process of improvisation for playmaking.  This exciting workshop helps teens develop their creative voice and play for truth with comedic material.  The workshop will culminate with a performance for a friends and family filled audience. Level: Beginner - Advanced Cost: $175 plus GST Producing Your Acting Career August 18th & 19th Sat – Sun Instructor:Catherine Lough Haggquist Description: Producing Your Acting Careeris an intensive weekend workshop designed to get your acting business underway and keep it on track. A foundation in the industry is a must. You can't succeed in an industry you don't understand. Too often actors focus on honing their craft and neglect the other skills necessary for a successful career. Producing Your Acting Career gives you not only a comprehensive understanding of the film and television industry, but also gives you the tools to craft opportunity maximizing strategies. Over the weekend you will begin to create an individual Business Plan to take your career to the next level. Producing Your Acting Career focuses on developing the powerful tools that give you a competitive advantage in your acting career. Level: Intermediate – Advanced Cost: $250 plus GST
MASTER CLASS PROGRAM Evolve your craft to a higher level! Learn how to apply for our year round program starting this upcoming Fall by reading on! Now Booking Auditions and Interviews! Master Class Program is a one-year full-time acting program.  The program is intended to provide the student actor with an intense level of training under the highest caliber of professional instruction. Master Class consists of four primary streams of study:  Scene Study, Meisner Technique, Acting for Film &Television, and Voice & Movement for the Actor. Located on Calgary’s funky and exciting 17th Avenue Strip, Company of Rogues is deeply immersed in the vibrant theatre and film communities in both, Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, B.C. Our actors are sought after by local/regional casting directors, filmmakers and theatre companies alike. Furthermore, at Rogues all our instructors are working professionals who offer the highest quality of instruction and mentorship; providing career counseling and guidance even beyond the term of the program. Our Studio Directors, Christianne Hirt and Joe-Norman Shaw are available to provide you with more detailed information through a Master Class Interview. Actors interested in applying for the Master Class Program should contact the Studio to arrange an interview and to set up an audition. Our full-time program runs from early September to the end of June. Students are accepted into the program through the interview/audition process during the previous spring and early summer months (May-July). However, if enrolment permits we occasionally admit students at a later date. Please submit either a headshot and resume or a photo with an accompanying letter of interest (detailing any previous experience) via e-mail or in person to the Studio (info@corogues.com). Please include the subject heading “Master Class Audition/Interview”. Upon receipt of your application we will arrange for an audition and interview with one of our studio directors. Master Class Interviews The Master Class interview process is dedicated to creating a program that is right for each actor, taking into consideration individual scheduling needs and previous acting experience. We also offer a customized payment plan and our flexible scheduling allows students to remain employed during their training period- a feature unique to our program. Beyond the one-year full-time program, actors will find opportunities to continue to train with us on a course-by-course or session-by-session basis for as long as they choose to call Company of Rogues their creative home. Master Class Auditions For new students applying to the Master Class Program you are required to audition for one of our studio directors. Auditions consist of the presentation of one contemporary monologue of your choice, two minutes in duration. The half-hour audition will consist of the presentation of your selected piece and a working session with our director. Please bring in a hardcopy of your headshot and resume or photo and letter on interest to the audition. ABOUT US Rogues was founded in 1993 in Vancouver, B.C. by seasoned working professionals, Christianne Hirt and Joe-Norman Shaw - who shared a desire to establish a creative home where actors could explore their craft in an environment devoted to the highest and most demanding artistic principles. After Christianne won the lead role of Hannah in the series Lonesome Dove, the two moved to Calgary where they re-established Company of Rogues in 1996, continuing their vision to cultivate a community of first class actors.
